2024 marks 100 years since the death of Gabriel Fauré. To honor this great composer, The Second Bohemians Young Artists Piano Competition is offering a prize for the best performance of a solo piano work by Fauré, encouraging young pianists to explore his varied and unique solo piano works.
Audience Award
Guests and members of The Bohemians: New York Musicians’ Club will vote on their preferred finalist by ballot which will be tallied during the judges deliberation.

*The order of performance will be drawn at random during a virtual meeting with BYAPC president, Dustin Gledhill. Meeting to be arranged with the finalists. The order of warmups will reflect the order of performance.

Competitor Eligibility & Rules
Finalists must arrange their own travel and accommodation.
Two complimentary tickets will be provided for each finalist. Other tickets may be purchased by clicking the ticket links above and below.
Final round program must be submitted no later than June 6, 2024
Practice rooms will be made available on June 23rd and June 24th at the contestant’s request.
Practice arrangements must be made with The Bohemians no later than June 6, 2024 by contacting president@bohemiansnyc.org
By participating in the final round, you agree to allow The Bohemians: New York Musicians’ Club to audio and video record content of the final round performance to use for promotional and membership purposes as they may see fit.
Repertoire Requirements
Recorded Preliminary Round:
Recorded video(s) lasting between 15-20 minutes.
Two or more contrasting solo piano works.
Solo piano works by Gabriel Fauré are encouraged but not required.
Single movements of larger works are acceptable.
Multiple video links are acceptable, but no audio or video editing is allowed within each given work.
YouTube links are preferred.
Professional videos are not required, however, high quality audio / video is strongly encouraged.
The applicant’s full profile should be in view (head to pedals).
Live Final Round:
At least three contrasting solo piano works lasting between 20 and 25 minutes.
One Baroque polyphonic work is required.
One virtuoso etude is required.
One or more solo piano works by Gabriel Fauré are encouraged but not required.
The following works by Gabriel Fauré may satisfy the “etude” requirement above.
Prélude in C-sharp minor, op. 103 no. 2
Prélude in D minor, op. 103 no. 5
Prélude in C minor, op. 103 no. 8
Impromptu in F-sharp minor, op. 102 no. 5
Works from the recorded preliminary round may be repeated.
Single movements of larger works are acceptable.
